There are many cool things to find in nature. There is always something unexpected, or weird that you may or may not find in your backyard. It is a cool rock, land form, or some deep pit leading to a lake. Sometimes, people stumble upon these wonders unexpectedly and unprepared to see something so amazing, Other times there are explores out to see the coolest things that they can find.
My first post talked about Crater Lake National Park and its snow melt lake, check that out on page if you haven't read it. Going down the coast from Crater Lake to the south is the Redwood Forest and National Park.
This forest is a natural wonder with giant trees that even giants couldn't reach to their canopy tops. These 300-375 foot trees tower over the surroundings, and are the lords of the forests. These giants are bigger than 10 story buildings, and last far longer than the building would too.
The Redwoods have lived about 800 to 1500 years so far, and they are not dying off now. They are a relics of the past, surviving through countless storms, disasters, and the destruction of time.
Redwood National Park is obviously know for its massive trees, but there more than just trees to enjoy. This is a forest after all, there is a whole ecosystem living between the trunks of these massive behemoths. There is bursting of flora, lacing between the trunks creating a dense wall of green, before you look above that to see a corridor of red.
When I went to Redwood National Park, one of my favorite parts, was finding one of the many streams running through the forest. There are clear water streams running between the trunks and fauna of the forest. They are so clear that the rocks at the bottom of the stream are completely visible and smooth due to the running water. It is a perfect place to relax on the sand bank and have a picnic, as you view a clear water stream on a sunny day, with the towering trees and forest as a background.

If you want to visit the park for a day, there is a road through the forest that takes cars past popular landmarks and trail that run throughout the forest. There are 200 miles of trails that run throughout the forest, that people walk, bike, and even horseback ride through. If you are feeling adventures and a little bit risky, tromping through the forest to find off trail wonders is a great experience, but be careful there are mountain lions, bobcats, black bears, and coyotes in the woods with you.
If you want to stay longer than just a day visit, there are several camping area throughout the park for a family to enjoy a relaxing evening. A night under the stars in this giant forest.
Redwood National Park is a treasure of nature, with old beauty. It is one of the numerous wonders that can be found in nature. Go visit Redwood National Park and see something amazing.
