There is always some crazy thing out in nature that you don't expect to see, except in stories and books. There are the deepest caves, giant trees, the most amazing rock formations all around us. We may think the coolest places to be and go find something to explore is outside of out country, but really there are hundreds of great things all around, we just have to look.
If you have been following along with my previous posts in Nature's Wonder, you know we have been slowly been traveling South. Now we are getting ready to complete our trip and head home back up in the North. First I thought I would take you to one last special spot that has some the last remaining geysers in the entire world; Yellow Stone National Park, the very first National Park in the United States.
Yellow Stone National Park is home to over half of the world'd remaining geysers. The most well known geyser in the park is one known as Old Faithful. This is one of the six geysers that researchers and park rangers are able to predict with pretty good accuracy. This is practically unheard of, because they are known for their randomness. Old Faithful just happens to be the one that fires off the most often. Now what is a geyser? It is a huge column of steam and water that shoots out of the ground because of the natural hot springs and geothermal temperatures.
This park is not just about the geysers and the hot springs. All 28,000 square miles have forests and rocky area to go hiking in. There are 900 miles of hiking trail throughout most of the park. Many groups will go camping and hike along the trail stopping when they need to to have some fun. Be sure to be careful though there are black and grizzly bears, and wolves roaming around the forests.
Even though there are plenty of scary predators that would have no qualms about have there next dinner be human, there are some more freindly and nicer animals. There are many types of heard animals that you can find traveling in groups all throughout the forests. There are bison, elk, mountain goats, pronghorn, and moose. Though the moose might be as dangerous or more dangerous than any black bear could be so, BE CAREFUL!
I hope everyone had a great time enjoying this adventure that we took through the east coast and hitting many parks and great places to go and have fun. After Yellow Stone National Park, you can make your way home. I might be posting another trip in the future so stay tuned.
I've been to Yellowstone National Park twice, it is very beautiful and Old Faithful is a sight to behold. I did not know about how many miles of hiking trails there are, nor did I know exactly which animals lived there. I also did not know how big the park actually was, so this is very interesting for me to read. Reading this makes me want to go back again because I do not remember the first two times, since they were so long ago.
